SuperEgo First Beta

SuperEgo is an application for OS X that controls and track what you’re doing on your computer.
The idea is to understand what happened when you were “just looking at something” and suddenly were 3AM…
Differently from other existing solutions, this application is privacy-aware. The executable is sandboxed and have absolutely no access to anything but its sandbox. Your data and your actions are protected.
In this first beta, the app only gather information and gives you a quick report of which application you used and, for any application, the document (or window name) you used. This is only the first step. :) You can grab the first beta here, the version number is 0.1(12). Feedback is always appreciated at my email/twitter/phone/whatever.

Beta with Encryption (iOS and OS X)

A new release candidate for the OS X version of Janus is now online here. Version number is 0.7 (286). The iOS version is also updated to 0.7.1 (287) and can be downloaded at the usual link.

Main changes:
Added encryption support. The text of the notes can be encrypted.
Spotlight support on OS X (notes are indexed for search).
A significant number of bugs are fixed.
OSX UI revised again.
The programs are now features complete. No additional features will be implemented.

The previous version have to be deleted to install this one (sorry). For OS X the directory ~/Library/Containers/it.iltofa.janus/ must be deleted also.

Thank you again for your patience.

Final Beta also for Janus OS X (and couple fixes for iOS)

Release Candidate for the OS X version of Janus is now online here. Version number is 0.6.2 (247).
Changes:
  • Menus are now working.
  • Smaller buttons on main UI.
  • Many bug fixes.
  • Contextual menus for attachment and notes.
  • Attachment can now be edited, just open one in an editor (right-click and open with), save and it will be magically updated.
  • You can now see notes and attachment in the finder (for debugging and/or editing purposes).
  • Various improvements.

The iOS version is also updated at the same version level and can be downloaded at the usual link.
Main changes are a fix for a crash and a fix for a problem in loading images from iOS to dropbox (the images were uploaded corrupted at 0 bytes length).

Both versions make now a (very) minimal usage tracking on a personal piwik server. An “opt-out” setting will be added to the preferences panels.

Make me know if it works for you.

Hopefully final beta for Janus

The last (at least, that’s what I hope) beta of Janus is available at the usual link. Version number is 0.6 (239).
Features for this beta are:
  • Delete notes now works
  • Dealt color scheme is with yellow background
  • Smaller attachment icons on iPhone note edit UI.
  • A bunch of minor fixes
Make me know of any problem you’ll find!

New icon and fixes for iOS 10.7

Janus 0.5.3 (211) for OS X is now online. Download it from here.
Change-log:
Fixed a bug on 10.7. Notes directory could not be changed outside the sandbox. Minimum OS level is now 10.7.3.
Changed the icon. Now is yellow as the iOS one (family look). :)

Janus (both iOS and OS X)

Janus is a program that manages text notes with attachments on both iOS and OS X, synchronizing the notes over Dropbox.

The program requires iOS 6 or later on iPhone/iPad and OS X 10.7 or later on a 64 bit intel machine on Macintosh.

To install the OS X version download the archive from here; unpack the zip file (if needed); copy Janus into Applications folder and execute it.

To Install the iOS version:
if you are on my iOS beta tester list, go directly from the device browser to http://www.iltofa.com/beta/janus/
if you want to participate to the beta testing, just send me an email with the UDID of your device(s).

Dropbox sync is activated into the preferences for both OSes. On iOS simply “link” your dropbox account. On OS X, select “Change Path” and select the folder ~/Dropbox/Apps/Janus-Note (that will exist if you already linked the iOS version to dropbox).
Both version can work also without Dropbox synchronization, as standalone applications.

There are no know bugs at the moment.

Radio Paradise for OS X

Radio Paradise for OS X version 0.5.1 (12) is available for testing. It is a quick port of the iOS app, source is available on GitHub. If you want to test it, grab it from here, unpack the zip and copy the application to the /Applications folder (not strictly needed, you can run it from everywhere).
The app is only for intel 64-bit systems and supports only OS X 10.7 or later (sorry, but I'm depending on the "new" Obj-C runtime for the app).
On the plus side it stream music from radio paradise and has HD images, song lyrics and PSD support.

Know bugs:
  • Menus (the ones on top) are still completely unused.
  • If you close the main window you will lose any control on the app (you can always quit it via Cmd-Q or the File menu).
  • Lyrics window is sometimes a bit weird (cannot find the base reason for this).
  • HD slideshow window is sometimes not completely aligned with the pictures (lacking or adding some pixel on side).
  • No tunemarks support.
  • UI is boring and frankly could be way better.

Help is always appreciated, on code and on graphics design/UI/usability. Just fork the code on github, and/or send me a mail or a DM.
